Human Equality

Why It Matters //

God created mankind in his own image, as we can read in Genesis 1:27. The first chapters in Genesis describe the story of creation and God’s intent for mankind before the fall, when sin separated humans from God. All humans, regardless of gender, nationality and race are created to be a reflection of God; all unique in their own way, but equal in value and worth. God's gift of salvation and promises are available for everyone, and have never been exclusive to one race or people group. As much as this world wants to parade chaos, division and despair to get us to question God’s goodness, which is exactly what the serpent did with Adam and Eve, God has a solution. He sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to redeem us from sin, so that we can be restored to our true identity (children of God) and united with our Heavenly Father and with one another. Have you asked God to show you his plan and his solution so that you can partner with him to bring peace, unity and love to those around you?

What It's Talking About //

Historically, both Jews and Christian believe that Genesis was written by Moses, who also holds the authorship of all first five books in the Bible. Genesis describes the beginning of the creation, including the time before the fall, and it is foundational for understanding the rest of the Bible and God’s plan.

Gen 1:26-31 NIV

26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.

30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day.
