Ekklesia | Convictions Wk 1

Why It Matters//

As members of Revive we are Committed to Jesus and Committed to one another. This commitment (also known as koinonia) is one of the pillars of our ReviveHOMES; It sets a foundation for us to grow and mature in community. Each unique ReviveHOME is a local expression of the same DNA that God has given us as a family of churches. Over the next weeks we will explore together our shared convictions, our identity and the Kingdom mission God has called us to accomplish in unity. Our shared convictions all stem from our 3 values:

  1. We have a Real God who is alive today and involved in our lives.

  2. We are Real People who are working out our salvation together from a place of commitment.

  3. We have Real Purpose together that will impact our neighborhoods and the nations as we expand the Kingdom of God.

What It’s Talking About//

Throughout this week we are meditating on the first 2 of our 6 convictions, which align with the reality that we have a Real God:

1. We are Sons and Daughters- Galatians 4:4-7 NLT

Our identity is fully defined by our union with Jesus. We know that God is a good Father who loves us and we can live knowing that we are loved by him and fully accepted as we are. Once we are secure in his love we can trust him to guide our life, knowing that his intentions are always for our good.

2. We are Word and Spirit- 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT, Acts 1:8 NLT

We fully embrace the Bible and we believe in the power of the Holy Spirit today. We need both. If we are missing one, we will misinterpret the other. God speaks to us through his Word and speaks to us personally in many different ways. Theology without experience is only philosophy. Our God is alive now, so we pursue his presence and we allow his Spirit to work through us to love and serve others.

Galatians 4:4-7 NLT

4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Acts 1:8 NLT

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
