Community Conduct: Servanthood

WHY it matters//

As the Community of God we have a responsibility to represent Jesus on the Earth. The way that we serve those around us is a greater testimony than our words. We have the ability and the privilege to serve anyone, regardless of who they are, what they believe or what they have done. Service is a part of our identity and a demonstration of Jesus’ love for the world.

WHAT it's talking about//

The Gospel of Matthew was most likely written between 60-75 AD by the Apostle Matthew, the former tax collector who followed Jesus as one of his twelve disciples. The readers were greek-speaking Jews. In this passage of Scripture Matthew is referring to the time of final judgment where Jesus is speaking to the righteous. The righteous have served well on the Earth as they lived lives poured out for those in need as unto Jesus himself.

Matthew 25:35-40 NLT

35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.

36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?

39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,  you were doing it to me!’
